Police took coercive action against two people after a rally was held on Saturday in violation of Auckland’s alert level restrictions.
This morning, the two individuals were arrested in connection with the event held at the Auckland Estate.
63-year-old man has been charged with breach of order (COVID-19) under the COVID-19 Public Health Response Act and will also appear for violating his bail conditions .
A 60-year-old woman has also been charged with two counts of lawlessness (COVID-19).
The two are due to appear in Auckland District Court later today via video link.
The police cannot rule out that further arrests may be made in connection with this event.

At this early stage, the Omicron variant appears to be more infectious, and more able to bypass the protection offered by vaccines and by antibodies generated by a previous infection. The fact that it is spread around the world by travelers who were all presumably fully immune and who had negative Covid tests before the flight is a bit alarming.
